Online Therapy
Transform Your Life with Convenient Online Therapy in Massachusetts
Online Therapy: A flexible and beneficial form of therapy
Online therapy, also known as teletherapy, telehealth, or video therapy, has gained enormous backing and momentum. In March of 2020, when the world shut down and we relied even more heavily on technology for social connection, to do our jobs, and attend school, online therapy became the main way people accessed therapy and counseling services.
People were psychologically stressed, anxious, worried, depressed, isolated, there was so much uncertainty and new challenges that many of us have never faced before. While life has slowly returned to “normal,” there are many residual impacts of COVID, as socially many people were isolated, which brought about new mental health concerns for people from young children to our elders.
Online therapy advantages
Research indicates that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy. There are many additional advantages and benefits to online therapy including, accessibility, flexibility, ease of scheduling, increased privacy, and increased comfort from attending appointments from your own space. The benefit of online therapy for people is that they are not confined to a geographic location to find a therapist, they do not need to drive to and from appointments, do not need to take time off of work to attend appointments, or attend therapy at the end of a long work or school day. Online therapy also allows people more flexibility for scheduling appointments and greater choice in providers.
Due to the ease of attending therapy appointments by video, clients tend to be more consistent attending their therapy appointments, as it reduces a number of barriers listed above with scheduling, driving to and from appointments, taking time off work or even due to weather conditions.
Many clients make progress in online counseling, improving their mental health, creating more balance between their work, social and personal life, and getting back to the things that are important to them.
How does online therapy work?
I use a secure HIPAA compliant video platform, that is confidential and easy to use. You can join therapy appointments from a smartphone, computer, or tablet.
In the first visit you will discuss what brings you to counseling, your desired outcomes and goals for treatment, and you and I will discuss a personalized treatment plan to meet your needs. Visits are usually scheduled on a weekly basis to start, and people report generally starting to feel better in 8-12 appointments.

My Treatment Approach
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
EMDR is a powerful and effective therapy focused on helping people alleviate symptoms and heal from disturbing memories and experiences in a safe and effective way. Sometimes difficult experiences get locked in our bodies and mind, and these unprocessed experiences can leave us feeling overwhelmed, distressed and stuck. EMDR therapy works with people to relieve psychological distress frozen in their body and brain. People are then able to adaptively change their emotional responses to past adverse experiences, present situations, and focus on their future with greater outlook and confidence.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is an evidenced based treatment for anxiety. CBT assists people with bringing awareness to their thoughts, emotions, and how they are responding to situations in their life. A major component of CBT is to work on ways to restructure negative thought patterns, also known as negative self-talk, as these negative thoughts produce unpleasant emotions triggering anxiety.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT is a behavior therapy, similar to CBT. The main principals and concepts of ACT focus on goal setting and making changes that align with your personal values. ACT teaches people how to accept the ups and downs, and the good and bad of life, and teaches people how to accept and tolerate difficult emotions. This is a great approach for people who want to understand and change their internal thought process (perspective), take action, and work through barriers and conditioned responses. ACT is an evidenced based treatment, and is proven to be an effective treatment for generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, substance abuse issues, stress, and burn-out.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
MBSR is a evidenced based program, and has proven to be helpful to reduce stress, reduce physical pain and improve overall well-being. I combine concepts from MBSR with other treatment interventions, and find that MBSR is especially helpful in the treatment of anxiety and chronic stress.
12-Step concepts
Utilizing concepts from the 12-Steps of Alcoholic Anonymous is a part of treatment for those in substance abuse counseling. I combined 12-step concepts with many of the above treatment modalities to bring balance, accountability, and help bring new prescriptive to peoples experiences.
