Most of us have been there before: "If I get the perfect job [or fill in the blank], things will be better." Then we get the ‘perfect’ job, perhaps earning more money or a better schedule, and initially things seem better. But after a little while, the initial relief and excitement wears off, and we notice we feel dissatisfied, either with the job that was supposed to fix our problems, or we feel dissatisfied with another aspect of our life.
This is very common for all of us! The problem that exists is not always the situation but our perspective and mindset. There are ways to change how we view aspects of our life, including our work, our relationships, and our view of ourselves i.e., self-esteem.
Awareness is key. All too often, we make decisions and fall into the same thought patterns and behaviors because that is what is comfortable for us. We're often unaware of our thought patterns and our conditioned behaviors (think Pavlov's dogs). Naming our thought patterns and our conditioned behaviors is a key element. This is a first step, and crucial to changing our perspective and behaviors.
